About Fukuoka and Symposium Site

Fukuoka is the largest city of Kyushu Island with a population of 1.3 million. The rich natural beauty of Fukuoka has been recognized by Hakata bay and islands in the Genkai National Park. Located near from Korea and China, Fukuoka has flourished as an international city since ancient times. Fukuoka is now experiencing dynamic growth and development as a hub city for the East Asia, hosting numerous international air and sea routs throughout the Asia and Pacific regions.

As an information source befitting the Asian core city of Fukuoka, Fukuoka Software Research Park (SRP) has been built at Seaside Momochi area in Fukuoka city in 1995. In this newly developed waterfront area, various facilities are located such as Fukuoka Tower, Fukuoka Dome (the largest baseball stadium in Japan), hotels, shopping malls, restaurants and museums.

The conference site is the Center Building of the Research Park, which has modern facilities for conference and meeting. There are buildings of research centers of Aso & IBM Japan Group, Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., NEC, Daewoo & Fukuoka City Bank Group, Fujitsu, and Hitachi surrounding the Center Building. Many small companies on information technologies are also located in the Center Building. The Fukuoka SRP aims to be the information source for the Asian & Pacific regions.
